Import Export Tool - RAW search? Thursday, October 19, 2017 9:56 PM (permalink)
I have a public records request due and I'm not sure if I've got the syntax correct, can anyone assist me?  I've tried to follow this article but nothing is ever cut and dry.

This is the information requested...
  • Date:  1/1/2010 - 10/18/2017
  • Mailbox to search: User1, User2
  • Recipients:  Name1, Name2, Name3, and Name4
  • Search Criteria:  confinement, security, initial observation status, ios

I've selected the archive stores for the dates, selected Mailbox User1 and added the following into the Whole Email field;

raw: (to __contains mail(name1.last1@domain.com)) __or mail(name2.last2@domain.com) __or mail(name3.last3@domain.com) __or mail(name4.last4@domain.com) __and ("confinement" __or "security" __or "initial observation status" __or "ios")

    Hi

Can you try the same query in the web interface under advanced search. This will exclude if something is wrong in the ImportExport Utility

      Ian,
When the code says ... raw: (to __contains mail(name1.last1@domain.com)) __or mail(name2.last2@domain.com)

In the second string "__or mail(name2.last2@domain.com)" is it going to look for the address in the To field only because it is stated in the beginning of the search string raw: (to __contains mail, or is it going to search in the To and From fields?

Also, is there a way to search the to and from field at the same time or do I have to put in each syntax to__contains and sender__contains ?  Can I just use raw:(mail(name1.last1.@domain.com)) ?

        Hi

Be careful of the opening and closing brackets.

raw: (to __contains mail(test@domain.com) __or mail(test2@domain.com))
This will search for test@domain.com OR test2@domain.com in the TO field only.

In terms of To and Sender you need to explicity state both
raw: (to __contains mail(test@domain.com) __or mail(test2@domain.com)) __or (sender __contains mail(test@domain.com) __or mail(test2@domain.com))
