Hi Chino,

1. Enable debug in registry by accessing the key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GFI\NSM6\Config"
and setting the value Debug from 0 to 1

2. Restart the 'GFI Network Server Monitor Attendant' and 'GFI Network Server Monitor 6.0 engine' services

3. Reproduce the problem.

4. Run the 'GFI N.S.M. 6.0 Troubleshooter' from the NSM program group

5. Zip and send the files gathered by the troubleshooter to vlad@gfitemasoft.com .

6. Disable debug by following same as step #1 but setting Debug value from 1 to 0

We will analyze the logs and get back to you.

Hi,

I'm back with SNMP problems... This night all SNMP checks stopped working. "Monitor now" gives "Unable to establish SNMP session" . SNMP Walk still works. I then tried to restart the services and discovered, that nsmengine6.exe could not be stopped the usual way using "Services". I had to use the Task Manager to kick it out. After restart, everything works fine. Interestingly, NSM sends me some SMS messages to my mobile phone, but failed to send out E-Mail notifications...

I've made a workaround for this: I frequently monitor a SNMP source that usually never fails and simply check the system.sysName OID.

If this source fails (due to NSM's SNMP problem), I run an action script to restart the services:

net stop "GFI NSM 6 Attendant"
net stop "GFI NSM 6 Engine"
taskkill /f /im nsmengine6.exe
net start "GFI NSM 6 Attendant"
net start "GFI NSM 6 Engine"

The "taskkill" command is important, because the "net stop" usually doesn't work anymore when it comes to that problem...

Maybe this helps a little until we get a fixed NSM build...

Thank you very much wolfgang, i'm looking for a temporaly solution. We'll wait for the new version soon. [Big Grin] .
Your script give me some problems, but if you run the attendant after the engine service, it work perfectly.
