send fax from outlook 2003 and faxmaker 12

Status: offline 		If i send utilizing the faxmaker message form, faxes send fine.

However, if I just use outlook and try to send a fax using contacts who have a "Business Fax" number stored in their contact information, faxes never get sent.

Is this normal? Must I use the faxmaker form to send faxes?

Evaluating this product and if this is the case it would be too dificult for our users to use!

Are you using Exchange as your mail server? If so, it is possible to send faxes to a contact, from Outlook.

Status: offline 		strangely enough, everytime i try i get a message undeliverable. Unless i format the contact manually 19495551212@faxmaker.com, it won't work.

Can you confirm that you are using exchange?

If so, what version?

What is the exact message undeliverable report you are getting?

Status: offline 		This is because there is a problem in Version 12 that has to do with the way fax number are formatted in faxmaker when linked from an outlook contact. I don't remember exactly what the fix was, but it involved a patch they sent me. If I find more details from my old email, do you want me to email you?

Is this patch still available ?

What is the build of GFI FAXmaker you are currently using? Ensure that you are running on the latest build of the product to resolve the issue.

Ditto... I would love to use this on our network but there are a few "issues" to resolve yet. This is a big one!

#1) win 2k3 server - faxserver 20051222
#2) win 2k3 server w/exchange 2k3 sp1
xp clients with office xp 2k3

Can you please perform the following procedure and send us the files at forums@gfi.com

Please perform the procedure below:

1. Stop the FAXmaker Message Transfer Agent and FAXmaker Fax Server services.
2. Send a fax that reproduces the problem
3. Zip up the files in <FAXmaker\sinkdrop> directory
4. Start the FAXmaker Message Transfer Agent service
5. Check if there are files in the FAXmaker\Out directory. Zip up these files.
6. Start the FAXmaker fax server service, and confirm that the problem is reproduced.
Please send me the files gathered in steps (3) and step (5)

Can you also generate a set of troubleshooter files as indicated in the following link:

Status: offline 		Our problem is solved... using a public folder contact list to select all recipients and setting the SmartHost to the [fax server ip] in the Faxmaker connector/Exchange Admin solved it. It defaults to the exchange server name.

Gian @ faxmaker support helped to resolve the "phone number in quotes" issue by adding a DWORD to the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GFI Fax & Voice\FAXmaker\Config

NoQuotedAddressSpec set to "1"

Disables quotes in the From address of MTA reports. E.g. "+356 21
382419"@faxmaker.com becomes 35621382419@faxmaker.com with this option
enabled.

This option is normally used when the mail server used with FAXmaker
does not support quoted email addresses. (Quoted email addresses are
part of the RFC)
