I'm also getting a lot of these errors as well. Does anyone (preferably from GFI) have any help or comments?
The error refers to the virus scan, but my logs don't have any record of the virus. Is it the attachment checking or the virus checking that is tripping these messages up?
FYI: Running MS 9 on Server 2003.

A new build of GFI MailSecurity 9 has been released (20050811).
Changes within this build include:
FIXED: Sometimes when installed on the same machine as Exchange server, emails where being queued.
FIXED: Incorrect information displayed by the real time monitor.
FIXED: Emails to/from particular users would end up in failed mails due to an issue in the AD user lookup.
FIXED: On rare occasions the GFI MailSecurity Attendant service was crashing when one tries to stop it.
FIXED: Various issues when accessing the web based configuration / quarantine like ĉAccess DeniedĈ and 'Field Input' errors.

Dear all
Also after installing the new build, the problem remains! *************************** Please note that a critical failure occurred on the sender's messaging system at the virus scanning stage.
The sender should be notified and reference made to this tracking number: src53_failed_f6d95617-ba53-46b0-82fa-f4ca43b0590e *************************** Mainly when images are directly embedded in the mail by outlook.
Can GFI tell us what we should do with this tracking-Nr.?
And when will this issue be resolved as with version MS8 everything was fine? [ August 19, 2005, 06:07 AM: Message edited by: mastermind ]

Win2k, Exch2k
Only happens when sending to multiple recipients - is there any resolution to this yet?

Same problem here. Win200, Exch2000. Seems to occur when sending outside of our Company and all of our emails have an embedded image.
LogFiles have been uploaded to GFI Support site.

Dear all
Install the newest patch:
More information about the patches can be found at http://support.gfi.com/patchcheck/patch.asp?PRODUCTID=3&BUILD=20050811&outs=1 --- Patch: MSEC9_PATCH_20050823_01 Patch Date: 23.08.2005 00:00:00 Patch Download link: ftp://ftp.gfi.com/patches/MSEC9_PATCH_20050823_01.zip
Issues fixed:
1. Sometimes remote recipients receive a message stating that "...a critical failure occured on sender's messaging system..." instead of of original message while original message ends up in the MailSecurity\FailedMails folder. 1. Emails having a certain number of recipients end up in the MailSecurity\Failedmails directory.

I am having the same issue and I looked at that patch, however it is only for specific builds - neither of which I have.
I have version 9 - build 20050826.
Do you have any other solutions? This just started for us yesterday - October 1th 2005.
Here is an example of one of the emails:
"Please note that a critical failure occurred on the sender's messaging system at the virus scanning stage.
The sender should be notified and reference made to this tracking number: src53_failed_2dcddec9-9f73-425e-a2ee-85187f8dedc0
Regards,
GFI Content Security."
Thank you
Kathryn

Kathryn,
The patch is not required when running the latest build of MailSecurity.
Ensure that no anti-virus or back-up software is scanning the MailSecurity directory, the <:\Inetpub\mailroot> and the <:\Program Files\Common Files\GFI>
Should the issue persist, kindly generate a set of troubleshooter files and send them over to support@gfi.com for further analysis and reference the url of this thread in your mail. Send also a copy of a sample mail which is going to to the failed mails folder.
The troubleshooter files can be generated by running troubleshooter.exe from <GFI\ContentSecurity\MailSecurity\troubleshooter>. Please answer the questions set by the troubleshooter as accurately as possible. Once the troubleshooter program is finished, it will create a number of files under the <GFI\ContentSecurity\MailSecurity\Support> and the GFI\ContentSecurity\WWWConf\Debuglogs>directory.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Compress all support directory in one zip file and send it over to us for analysis.
If the compressed files larger than 7mb or too large to be sent by email, please upload them to our ftp site using the following procedure:
FTP Server details:
Host: ftp://ftp.gfisoftware.com User: gfi Pass: gfi911cust (If using Internet Explorer use ftp://gfi:gfi911cust@ftp.gfisoftware.com)
a) Create a new folder on your machine and name it using either your ticket number or company name (e.g. domain.com)
b) Copy support.zip to the new directory.
c) Login to the FTP server.
d) Upload the directory with the troubleshooting files to the ftp server. NOTE: When the upload is finished, you will not be able to see the directory or the files. This is done to safeguard your privacy
e) Send me an email to confirm that the files have been uploaded and the name of the directory.
