Does anyone use NetPrintQueueFax with dotnet applications?  We have had problems with print output from dotnet apps to NetPrintQueueFax not reading the fax number information.  It appears to be a compatibility issue with the output format from dotnet.  Looking for a solution or workaround to the issue.

Hi,

We used to have problems with .NET apps versus NetPrintQueue2Fax before due to the way .NET renders content for printing. What happens is that it first renders the content on an off-screen bitmap and then blits that bitmap to the printer's context. Because of that NetPrintQueue2Fax is unable to detect any text in the output produced by a .NET app since there is only one single image being sent to the printer.

You indicated this use to be a problem.  Was it corrected by GFI or is it an issue that cannot be resolved due to the way dotnet output's documents.  Is there any work arounds that you would suggest?

Hi,

I mentioned "used to" because there were a couple of support cases in the past where this problem first appeared. Unfortunately there is nothing GFI could do to resolve the issue - the data is "lost" on its way to our code and it cannot be retrieved back, except maybe through OCR'ing the image but that's definitely an overkill.

Potentially you could try implementing printing yourself where you would actually send the pieces of text and whatnot to the printer's DC. I have not tried this myself though.
