Hi! I have MS Server 2003R2 64 bit and Exchange 2007 SP2 installed. GFI is the previous build since the new build does not work (but that's another issue I've already written about in the forums) This server is reserved for scanning only, the mailboxes are located on another exchange 2007 server. I have followed the instructions of how to set the action to forward spam e-mails to user's Junk E-mail box in Outlook. Some e-mails still seem to disappear in to thin air. The Spam Digest lists the mails tagged as spam, but they are nowhere to be found. I'm trying to find more information about this but the only thing I've found for one mail is a fail marking in the exchange tracking logs. Any ideas ?

If your mailboxes are on a separate server, you will need to tag the email and then use a transport rule. Take a look at the documentation here, section 5.8.2.

You are correct; you must choose "Deliver email to mailbox:In inbox" too. Are these messages making it to the destination inbox? If so, Outlook is probably over-riding ME's decision. Usually this is the "also trust e-mail from my contacts" on the Safe Senders tab in Tools/Options/Junk E-Mail, or due to the Safe Senders specified. I prefer to use "No automatic filtering" in Outlook for this reason and because Outlook can decide to put email into the Junk E-Mail too.

For the most part e-mails are delivered ok and even to the junk e-mail-folder so the transport rule seems to work. There are just these few ones that are disappearing and of course those are the most important ones. The end-users then read their Spam Digests and assume the server has eaten the missing mails and request them to be released.

Hmm, not good for your sanity. I'm unfamiliar with the tracking log entry you mentioned; can you expand on it? I assume that there was nothing untoward in the Dashboard regarding the email. I expect that by the time you know of it, it's rolled off the top of the display anyway. You may need to delve into the debuglogs to locate what happened to the emails as far as ME is concerned in order to work out where in the system the fault is occurring. Take a look at the ase* files and see if you can match up the times/subjects/senders/recipients.
