...first time scanning XP. installed as a VM. getting unknown user name or bad password, access denied. but credentials should be fine ... ideas?

What account is the GFI Languard service running as? Does it have local admin rights to each machine being scanned?

GFI uses local system ... I use profiles or type in the id/pw when attempting to scan these three xp machines

From the GFI machine, can you access the XP machine's remote registry? (Start -> Run -> regedit -> Connect to Network Registry) and use the same credentials listed under the computer profile?
