I'm hoping this is my fault. Maybe I've messed up the config, or something. I just scanned one of my desktop machines with LANGuard, and I also set up the machine to connect to my WSUS box.

WSUS reports 9 updates needed:

Office XP Update: KB833858
Office XP Update: KB837253
Update for Access 2002 (KB904018)
Update for Office XP (KB913471)
Windows Powershell 1.0 (KB926139)
IE8
Update for Root Certificates
Update for Root Certificates (May 2009)(KB931125)
Update for Root Certificates (Sept. 2009)(KB931125)

GFI reports 1 update needed:

IE8

Any idea why the big discrepancy?

It doesn't look like GFI Languard recognizes the missing patches as "critical" or "security" updates - This list indicates all of the patches we detect: http://www.gfi.com/lannetscan/msfullreport.htm

That seems kind of odd. Microsoft classifies those Office XP and Access updates as Critical Updates.
