Hello.

Anybody knows who sets the SCL value in each email (MIME Headers: X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL:), GFI ME or Exchange Server?

We have exchange 2007 antispam filters disabled, except Directory harvesting.

Thank you very much.

Regards

athletic,

It is Exchange that sets the SCL value. Please visit http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998863(EXCHG.65).aspx for more information on this.

Thank you very much,

But this document says Content filters rate messages, so I think they set SCL, and we have it disabled.

Also, in http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID003079 we see:

When GFI MailEssentials is installed on a separate machine than Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, it is not possible to
configure GFI MailEssentials to automatically set the SCL level for spam emails

But I cannot see how to configure or not to set SCL.

Based on this, I think GFI sets SCL unless you enable Content Filter spam filter in Exchange 2007.

That's true?

Thanks.

Hi Athletic,

The only time when MailEssentials sets the SCL level to the email is when the action selected in the modules is "Move email to the junk folder". When this action is selected and an email is detected as spam, MailEssentials will change the SCL level of the email and then Exchange will move the email to the Junk folder.

This is the only action in MailEssentials that changes the SCL level of the message. If you want MailEssentials not to alter the SCL and still move the emails to the junk folder, you can use the action "Move to users' mailbox subfolder" and write in there the path to the junk folder. With this action, MailEssentials will make the connection to the mailbox and drop the email directly in the folder specified. Please note that this action only works if ME is installed in the same machine as Exchange.

Hope this information helps.

Regards,
