Patch check always fails to determine available patches

For as long as I can remember, this has never worked. The patch check claims it's successful but never discloses any patches available.

This url is queried:
/patchcheck/patch.asp?PRODUCTID=8&BUILD=20090826

The following is returned:

I've noticed that as well, it seems this feature is useless at the moment; it never reports any patches available.

I didn't realise until recently that patches were available for ME, as it never said there were any before. Can't even remember it telling me of any patches for any version I've used. I assumed the only changes available were different build numbers from the version check when a service release was released :|
