GFI MailArchiver 5

A couple of days ago I was having an issue where I could not search for emails within the archiver.  I was however able to view an entire mailbox which was current, but nothing would populate when I attempted to use the search function to narrow the list.  After reading through other posts, I decided to rebuild an index and see if that was the issue.  This did not correct the problem.  I tried to restart the search service and now I cant even connect to GFI app.

I receive the error: Failed to connect with the search service (Error code: 500).

Details:  No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8019

If anyone knows of something else I could try please let me know, thanks!

nwasko13,

Do you have any firewall, anti-virus or backup software running on the GFI MailArchiver machine?

Third party anti-virus and backup software make GFI MailArchiver mal-function because they deny GFI MailArchiver access to certain files (normally emails).

Can you please disable this kind of software from scanning the MailArchiver directory and the <:\Program Files\Common Files\GFI>

Also, kindly run a netstat -abno to see if any other application is using port 8019.

Regards,
Ben Vincenti

Hey Ben, thanks for the reply.  There are no other programs using port 8019.  There are no AV or backup software running on that machine as well.  I did reboot the server this weekend and I am now able to view the mailarchiver again...Although I am still unable to use the search tool =/.
