Hi,

last week there was a possibility to deploy the IE8 via LNSS. Ok it was in the "missing patches" part
and i believe it would better be located in the service pack section, but why does it disappear now
for today from all sections ??
No message, no announcement -> not good !

For those who've decided to roll it out with LNSS and tested it in the past days/weeks
it's a bad surprise.
Now we have to build a custom package again as in the "good" old days and deploy it with
the "deploy custom software on" functionality.
Yes, some of us wanted to deploy it and within the service pack section normally everybody
will have a look at it in detail before deploying it, therefore this might be the right solution for it
and not to drop it without any comment.

Not a good solution, i believe GFI should focus their improvements more on the accuracy
of its deployment of patches and the completeness of security/MS patches than on gimmicks like
the colors of vulnerability levels and so on.
In the past weeks things like IE8 in "missing patches section" appearing/disappearing or patches
that were shown correctly for x86 systems but not for x64 system or w2k8 servers happened
too often.
And sometimes others are simply missing..

We're working with LNSS since 2003 with version 3 (2003) and do the deployment for
about 900 windows server with v9 now, but now it would be a good idea to test  Microsoft's SCCM for patch deployment
more in detail because LNSS is no more reliable as it was before. SCCM might be more complex but
at least its results are not so surprising than sometimes LNSS is..

We have identified an issue with detection and deployment of Internet Explorer 8 by GFI LANguard and this has been fixed.

Once you update to the latest patch definitions and patch engine, usually updated automatically, you will be able to successfully deploy Internet Explorer 8 remotely.
