P -> Application not up to date (8.Sep.2009 11:49:31 AM)

I note elsewhere in the GFI Languard forums that Symantec Endpoint Security is NOT supported.

My full scans consistently return a High Security Vulnerability of: Application not up to date: Symantec Endpoint Security.

There is no additional information associated with this vulnerability so I cannot (seemingly) determine what scan conditions trigger this message.

Any help or perhaps suggestions regarding this? For example is the "official" method of handling this to edit my Full Scan profile and add the text Symantec Endpoint Security to the Ignore Applications list?

Thank you for any insight.
Patrick

Hello P,

Just as an FYI I already went through this with GFI and recieved a response that this problem had to do with the timing of our definitions download. Although you might be downloading the update at 3 am every morning to a central server it will be show as out of date if Symantec publishes a new definition at 8 or 9 am because the check performed by the GFI scan compares the date of the definition to not that of your End Point server but from Symantec's FTP site from where the update is downloaded from. I can't recall what the time window is exactly but I do recall it is not very forgiving and to my knowledge there is no way to adjust the grace period.

Mark
