I'm currently evaluating LANGaurd (for a few days now) and was wondering what people think of the custom software deployment. I mainly want to use it for patching third party software (acrobat reader, java, shockwave, etc). Is anyone using it successfully in this manner? If so, how difficult/easy is it to setup the packages? I've gon through the process a bit, but not in a production enviroment. I've scanned the forums a bit and the KB, but haven't found too much about this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Scott

I use LanGuard for some app deployment, but it's not as convenient as Group Policy (particularly for the apps you mention, like Acrobat Reader, Flash Player, Java, etc., all of which have MSI files you can download.) You asked if it was easy, though, and I guess it is, once you figure out the command-line switches. My biggest complaint is that you can't save your installations in an easily accessible format. Every time I go to the custom software deployment page of the UI, it's like I'm there for the first time. - Joe
