Error 1406. Could not write value Language to key \-\ReportPacks\LNSS9. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. (abort) (retry) (ignore)

This was while running the program as domain administrator with the report pack service turned off. I recieved this error half way through installing the new report pack that was just released.

This issue may occur if the GFI ReportCenter Framework 3.5 is still installed. You may need to uninstall the ReportCenter Framework from Add/Remove Programs and download http://software.gfi.com/reportcenter36.exe first.

Can you confirm the license key you are using is the same key as shown under the GFI Languard 9 application? If it is, please open a support request online at http://support.gfi.com so we can investigate your individual license key.

Often in this case an uninstall of the GFI Languard 9 Report Pack AND the GFI ReportCenter Framework will help.

Once uninstalled you can download and install the new report framework and report pack

I've actually done that a few times, still no luck. If you notice after installing framework 3.6, the folders and registry still show it as 3.5, but I'm told that the code is 3.6

Have you tried download http://software.gfi.com/reportcenter36.exe manually, instead of letting the ReportPack download and install it for you?

Just for reference I uninstalled the previous version and deleted the installation folder. I'm sure your problem is probably larger then this but I figure any frame of reference would help. If your installation is on a 2003 server or earlier you can also use a program called FixMSI to scan the registry for lingering registry keys that were not properly removed by the uninstaller. I ran into this problem on a 2008 64 bit server and decided against using this old standby utility because I am unsure if FixMSI is supported on server 2008 since it is a whole different animal in terms of installation paths, registry keys, etc. I believe Microsoft also has a utility to assist in the cleanup of uninstalls.

FixMSI (Read the read me files to configure it to scan beyond the normal registry paths)

Please remember to make a backup of your reports if you require saving custom or scheduled reports which would be hard to recreate. I had serious issues importing the old reports though and opted to recreate the reports.
