pbrock -> unable to send fax from Outlook Express (1.Jul.2009 3:27:52 AM)

Hi all
in my company I  use faxmaker (rel. 14.3) and Lotus Notes, actually release 8.02, from some years. With Notes Client and GFI Fax client all things work correct.
I have a problem when send a fax from OE using Domino's POP3 because i receive the error 'No address to send fax'.
the problem is only with OE, if i use Thunderbird it work good.

I investigate the problem and seems how OE manage address.
For example, with OE I send a fax to 12345678@fax, the message is correctly received in the notes mailbox used by gfi, but the destination address is converted in <12345678@fax>.

I don't understand where are added '<..>' before and after the address.
If i use GFI Client or other mail client, like thunderbir, this don't happens

I have the same problem when i try to send a message directly to smtp installed on faxserver machine.

Someone have same problem. Is possible to fix it?
Regards
Paolo

If you intend to send from Outlook Express, you would send differently than from the GFI FAXmaker client.  You should configure your OE to send in plain text and specify in the message body, the text api commands for your recipient's fax number.  Here is the api manual: http://www.gfi.com/fax/fax14apimanual.pdf.

hi Ernest
thank for your response. This solution don't solve my problem.
I need to send the document directly from our accounting program that use in automatic the microsoft Outlook Express and I cannot modify the report that create the document.

So, my idea is to use the mail field to send a fax or send email (ex. using internet address dest@mail.com or using fax address 12345@faxmaker.com). Unfortunately my programm use OE for automatically send the message.

the messages are correctly routed to domino mail server and the messages intended for the fax are corretly delivered to fax mailbox, but the destination address is added to the characters <> (ex. 12345@faxmaker.com becames <12345@faxmaker.com>) and Faxmaker doesn't recognize the address. Same thing if I use OE on my pc but if I use thunderbird this does not happen.

Summary. I can't modify the program used for send email and don't modify the document to be sent.
So, I suppose I can not use FAXmaker to send faxes from our accounting program. :-(
The only thing I can do is try a Domino agent that tries to remove the <> from destination address or exist in Faxmaker parameter this possibility?

thanks the same for your interest :-)

I have tested in a test environment with Outlook Express sending to number@faxmaker.com, and its SMTP settings pointing directly at the FAXmaker server, and all sent fine.  As long as you are using Outlook Express on your other machine to be used only with your Accounting application and the from address is specified as a licensed user in the FAXmaker configuration, it should send fine.  Please point your OE SMTP settings directly at your FAXmaker server and do not pass through your Lotus server first - This should give you desired results.  If necessary, test from another machine with OE and follow the same directions, and you should see it send the fax.
