I am running FAXmaker 12 and I can't seem to nail down the cause of this problem. Faxes send fine without a coverpage. I have: 1. Verified that the services are running as a Domain Admin account. 2. Uninstalled/Reinstalled Printers. 3. Changed to a builtin coverpages, both RTF and HTML. 4. Updated the software patches (FM12_ROLLUP1_20071024.zip). Any input would be very appreciated.

Is this more of a recent occurrence, or has this been going on for a while? Please verify that you do not have Internet Explorer 8 installed on this machine, and if you do, I would suggest removing and restarting your GFI FAXmaker machine to test again. If this is not the case, I may suggest upgrading to FAXmaker 14.

The problem arose yesterday morning after the weekend and it does look like IE8 was installed last Friday night. I have uninstalled IE8 and the printers and rebooted the server and reinstalled the printers after the reboot but I still have the same problem. Is there something I can do to repair this? Unfortunately an upgrade is not in the budget at this time.

If you have indeed uninstalled Internet Explorer 8 and restarted your machine, I would also verify that the FAXmaker printer is set to the default printer in the account that the GFI FAXmaker services are running. Also, make sure that Internet Explorer 8 has not reinstalled itself. If Internet Explorer 8 is completely uninstalled, stop the GFI FAXmaker faxserver service, navigate to the Faxmaker directory in Windows Explorer, and double click fmserver.exe to run the GFI FAXmaker faxserver service as an application. Try to send a fax as before, and see what errors appear. Also, check under your event logs for any specific errors.

ernestbyrd, I verified that IE8 is uninstalled and that the FAXmaker printer is default. I then followed the instructions in your post. The Fax server started fine manually but when I sent a fax to the server it popped up the print dialogue on the server. After I hit ok it went ahead and sent the fax. I tried faxing again with the fax server running as a service and had the same conversion issue but when I sent a test page through the FAXmaker printer on server it went ahead and sent the fax. I'm wondering if in the background the FAXmaker printer is waiting for some input to send the fax? Thanks for your help.

There were no errors on the server or in the logs. The only thing that was different was the print dialogue.

What is the version of Internet Explorer that is currently running on this machine? I would verify in your Internet Explorer that your FAXmaker printer is set as default because sometimes I find that it may be set different here than in your system profile.

The server is running IE7. I think it has been running IE7 for about a year before this IE8 update was installed. I checked Internet Explorer and it shows the FAXmaker printer as default. I also reset IE to default settings to rule out any other settings that may be causing us issues. Any other ideas?

I'm having the same problem after updating to IE8. I can not fix. We can recieve faxes, but no one can send by printing or using Outlook by [Fax:1234567890] Have deinstalled, reinstalled, reinstalled office on the server, changed conversion types, etc.., etc.., etc.. Help! Anyone? We are using version 14 too. EDIT - I need to add that there are NO errors reported in the Send Log.

Anyone else having this issue after installing IE8. We are going on our third day of being unable to fax out. The error seems to be a timeout when the faxmaker app on the server is converting/creating the html cover page. Why or what is actually happening, I can not sort out yet. We would really like to know what the fix is.

That, in combination with a deinstall/reinstall of faxmaker fixed it. Still puzzled as to what this had to do with IE8, becasue it broke right after IE8 was installed. Thanks..
