Hi, Our server which hosts Mailsecurity, had a power outage which went beyond the UPS capacity, and died a sudden death. Since that time, we have been unable to get Mailsecurity to work properly with its original configuration and data files. The error messages that come up in the event viewer are: Plugin QAS.Coordinator reports exception. . Additional info: plugin [ContentSecurity.ML.QAS.Plugins.QAPlugin] threw an exception [Could not find file "C:\Program Files\GFI\ContentSecurity\MailSecurity\MiddleQueue\13a8-26d0-ee14838-000000000000116-000000000000135.rdt".] title is 'msecmlhost' The directory referenced above 'Middlequeue' does not appear in that directory, so I am guessing that is why it is failing. The net result of this is that emails will not be sent, so I have had to uninstall Mailsecurity for now. Is there any way of recovering this situation? Thanks

shireofkal, If you are missing the middlequeue folder you might be missing quiet a bit more of your MailSecurity installation and configuration. Best course of action here would probably be to uninstall MailSecurity, delete the entire installation folder and reinstall it. Unfortunately, you'll have to setup your configuration again however, that might be better than not knowing what else might be missing.

I'm getting similar errors about missing RDT files w/ QAPlugin and QASCoordinator on service startup. How do I resolve the issue? (My middle queue folder exists).

When reinstalling (which in most cases is rather easy) just make sure you take a copy of your ContentSecurity\MailSecurity\Data\avapicfg.mdb file and just copy it back once reinstalled. Your original settings should be carried over. Regards Pop

Hello, After updating my MSEC to the latest build, I got the same errors. Every time the event viewer reported that 4 files are missing in the ../MailSecurity/MiddleQueue are missing. The reason is that, after the upgrade, MSEC is searching for these files and they are missing because of an other issue with the previous build of MSEC. The issue was that mails with docx and xlsx attachments were dropped in the MiddleQueue (docx could not be scanned by the Qas-plugin). I then found a workaround to open the files in this directory (rpt extensions), edit the "application" flag in the file, closing the file and MOVING it to c:\inetpub\mailroot\pickup, where it was picked by GFI MSEC again. Unfortunattely, the installation of the new build, kept a list of the "deleted" files in MIddleQueue... I was now 2 hours busy with making files again corresponding to the name of the missing file (copying an eml-file to an rpt-file) and restarting a service over and over. I needed to do this a 50 times, because there were some 200 files missing, and the QAS-plugin crashes after each 4 files. Unfortunattely, this procedure was NOT helpfull to us. So, I am REINSTALLING MSEC, without keeping the old settings. Hope this will helps. Remark: why did GFI not mention this to me when they told me there was a new patch/version, as the open call was about this problem ?

Hello, Reïnstalling GFI MSEC completely did not help. There ware some mails that were waiting in \inetpub\mailroot\queue that were processed, but since 12h32 (local time) NO more mails are processed by GFI (is it MSEC or MES that is causing the problem ?). Even rebooting the server did not help, and there are no errors in the event viewer. What can be done ? Pls note: you cannot contact me via my regular mail-address, so please reply also to "waak.vzw(at)skynet.be" !
