I bought faxmaker when I was using exchange - currently I'm trialling mailenable on a new server 2008 with iis 7.0. It does not have the same virtual server for smtp that iis 6.0 so I can't seem to be able to get faxmaker instaal to recognize this as smtp... any clues

There is a smtp embedded in iis 7.0 but chaanging this to port 26 still does not allow it to be recognized by the installer - did I miss something. there is no virual server and everything for iis is installed on my machine.

Hi, On Windows Server 2008 the SMTP Server is a separate component from IIS 7. Open Server Manager, right-click on the Features node and select Add Features, in the list that appears select "SMTP Server" and follow the wizard's instructions. Regards, Max Sushchenko GFI Software Ltd - www.gfi.com

I've read the kb articles on how to configure for running a mails server on 25 and fax maker on 26 but I'm still confused. which parts to I specifically need to pay attention to to alter the setting so that the client works and the faxmaker machine receives it. Thanks

You need to have your mail server communicating on port 26 if you are going to change the FAXmaker port to communicate on port 26. The same applies for any FAXmaker client installs you have - you need to specify port 26 after supplying the "mail server" IP (you can use the IP address of the FAXmaker server here, and send directly through the SMTP instance on FAXmaker).

so I've installed iis smtp on port 26 so it doesn't clash with my existing server on 25 - then I've configured everything for faxmaker to point to 25 - including client - happy to leave on 25 - will that now work?

Well I can't have 2 ip's on the same machine windows 2008. Any other ideas how I can make smtp bind and unique while running a mail server on the same machine? How do others do this?
