Hi Guys,

Can we include on your next release the SCHEDULING for Download Control Policies, to be able to set times on downloading/blocking.

Cheers...

Hi,

Unlike WebFiltering policies which are mostly used for productivity purposes, we believe that WebSecurity policies should be active at all times rather than on specific schedules. Download control policies should be enforced as part of an organization's security policy and therefore they should not be dependent on time of day.

For example if an admin chooses to block all incoming EXE files for security reasons, it does not really make sense to allow end users to download EXE files after working hours, since this might still compromise your network security.

On the other hand the admin might want to grant access to online exe files to security savvy users, in which case he can do this by defining a more lenient policy for them through the 'Applies to' tab. Hope that clarifies our reasoning behind the current design.

Hi,

Fair enough with GFI's stand on this security implications, but how about if clients has the requirements on doing this scheduling?

Like us, we blocked Google Earth thru content application under Download Control Policy and want to schedule this on particular time frame.

Cheers...

Hi Ian,

OK I got your point there. Will look into the options and possibly add it to the feature request list for upcoming versions. Thanks for the feedback! :)
