ufs -> AVG Anti-Virus Hanging Exchange (27.Mar.2009 8:09:28 AM)

Recently I ran into a problem that I eventually tracked down to the AVG Anti-Virus engine in MailSecurity 10 (build 20080614). It concerned e-mails coming in from a business partner with a PDF attachment. It affected only some PDF files, not all, and I've never quite figured out what it was about those particular PDF files. The symptom was that when AVG encountered the attachment, it locked up Exchange's "Messages Pending Submission" queue and messages would just collect in that queue. The message itself would end up in the FailedMails folder. The only way to get mail flowing again was to reboot the Exchange server, and everything would be fine until AVG encountered that message in the information store again, and we'd repeat the process. BitDefender and Norman had no problem whatsoever with these attachments. Once we finally determined that it was AVG that was triggering this issue, I simply disabled that scanning engine and everything went back to normal. Just for the record, my AVG details are: Scanner engine version: 1.6.8276 Scanner engine release date: 2009/03/11 14:00:00 Virus database version: 270.11.11/1997 Virus database release date: 2009/03/12 10:38:00 The problem started on 2009/03/13 which is after AVG updated. I guess it took a day or two for the right combination to hit. My question is, has anyone else has experienced this problem?
