Same error here with Mail Archiver 5.  However everything is working as normal apart from the occasional warning email saying.

Port is Busy: All pipe instances are busy.

MAR5 sits on the same server as exchange.

Add me to the list... since the new .net update I've gotten flooded with the "Port is busy: All pipe instances are busy."

I have reinstalled a server (Win2003SP2). After reinstallation did not begin to put any hotfixes and updates. All works perfectly 2 weeks. With the installed updates (WUS) the error was.
The excellent program!

We have the same issue here.  As with others, the "Port is busy" errors started after the most recent .net update.

Rebuilding is unfortunately not an option for me, because MARC6 is on my production Exchange 2003 server.

Really, I'm hoping we can get a reasonable solution to this. I'm thinking the problem cropped up with the massive 250MB .net 3.5SP1 update that modified the previous .net packs. I knew I shouldn't have installed something that big.

Now, I removed .net 3.5 from the machine, but I can't roll back 2.0SP2, as it's in use.

MARC6 appears to be working, but I am still getting flooded with the aforementioned message via email and application logs. I don't want to turn off notifications, so what can we do next? This update is being pushed as a critical/security update, so we are going to have a lot of people installing this within the next few weeks.

I've warned all my customers/colleagues about the potential problems it will create with MARC, but hopefully we can find a solution to this soon.

UPDATE

I've also removed .net 3.0 and rebooted, but to no effect. I can't do much more without some guidance. I just don't understand what could have been broken so badly by that update.

As far as I can tell, emails are being archived just fine. I've verified that it has emails from 2/10/09, so it can't be totally broken. It is just throwing these errors out at an alarming frequency unfortunately.

I can tell you that we are having discussions with all parties here at GFI and looking at this issue in depth.  It seems that the .NET 3.5 update is the culprit behind the messages and that uninstalling .NET 3.5 and then reinstalling .NET 2 will resolve the issue.  While that may be the case it is not a "good" solution to the problem as many products do or will rely on .NET 3.5 to work.

As soon as we have a status update with this I will certainly let everyone know.  I'm looking forward to hearing something shortly.

Bad news...

I've uninstalled .NET 3.5 and reinstalled .NET 2.0 SP2 and i get the same error again:

GFI MailArchiver failed to transfer the archived emails into the backend database.

The following error message was reported:
Der Port ist ausgelastet: Alle Pipeinstanzen sind ausgelastet.

Regards,
GFI MailArchiver

Just an update:

We have been able to reproduce this in house and are presently working on a solution for this issue.  As soon as I have further information or a solution I will update the forum.  Thanks for your patience.

For the users having this problem:

1.  Is GFI MailArchiver or SQL running on a physical machine or virtual machine?
2.  If everything is on a physical machine are virtual environments or virtualization software running on the same machine?
3.  If so, which software is installed?
4.  Which OS and Service Pack is being used?

If you all could let me know this I would appreciate it greatly.  Thanks.

I run Mailarchiver 6 on the same physical server as Exchange 2003, but on separate arrays. No virtual server involved. Server 2003 SP2, SQL 2000 SP4.
