GFI backend database error - 13.Jan.2009 10:39:35 PM

I have seen posts similar to this in the forums, but my issue does have somethign a bit different. The I am evaluating the latest version of MailArchiver v6 and it was fine for the first week, but I started getting the mesage below being mailed to my administrator account;

GFI MailArchiver failed to transfer the archived emails into the backend database.

The following error message was reported:
Port is Busy: All pipe instances are busy.

The section in bold is where my issue is different. I have seen people reporting backend database errors, but none of them had this particular error. There is also a corresponding event ID 6310 shown below.

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MAR6Core
Event Category: None
Event ID: 6310
Date:  01/11/2009
Time:  01:22:20
User:  N/A
Computer: SERVER

Description:
Plugin LogScheduler reports exception.
Logging: Submit failed.
Additional info: Port is Busy: All pipe instances are busy.

This error is logged whenever a message is aded to the archive. Although I get this error the archive does appear to be working. I am able to browse and search the archive and I do find messages without a problem. I have MailArchiver installed on the exchange server and I am using SQL server 2005 for the database. If anyone has any suggestions on what the cause may be I would greatly appreciate it.

I think I found at least a partial fix to this problem, there seems to be some conflict with MailArchiver and .Net Framework v3.5 SP1. I removed that version and went back to .Net 2.0 --> 3.0 SP1 and the errors went away. I am not very fimiliar with the inner workings of .Net, so I am not sure what the differences are between the versions, but that seems to have been the fix for me. Hopefully this will be helpful for someone else.

Hi.
I also have the same problem. Removal .Net 3.5 SP1 has not solved a problem.

MARC5 and same problem here.

What worked for me:
-uninstalling all server updates before the problem appeared (including .net 3.5 and .net 3.0)
-re-registered .net 2.0 SP2:
 CD <WindowsDir>\Microsoft.NET\Framework\<version number>\
aspnet_regiis.exe -i

MARC5 works fine now

I suspect that the problem was .net version and registration: now I'm reinstalling all server updated I removed (excluding .net 3.0/3.5) to check.

Thanks GFI for sleeping while we struggle to debug your products ;-)

Hi all

I work with MAR6 and i had the same Problem.
I had contact with my local vendor and then i uninstalled everything from .net higher than version 2.0...
After some updates including .net 3.5 and Sp1 for .net the backend was out of order.
There was always the message----FAILD TO LOAD ASP.NET.

After unsinstall everything from asp.net higher than 2.x.. my backend works again.
But sometimes the server is very slow.

We are working on the cases that have been submitted and looking at each of them.  This is something that is being worked on with several different cases and as soon as we see a resolution we will gladly post it in this forum.
