THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR REPLY!!

Why do you always ask for troubleshooter files if you never answer???

quote:

You should receive a response within 24 hours of receiving your request

Oh yeah I got it!!

I submitted a support request more then three times!!
But the ONLY answer I get is:

1.To desactivate the AV - Firewall during installation.
2.To allow the complete GFI file to access.(firewall)
3.To contact Microsoft for support........!?!?!?!?!?

PARDON????

Do you still remember my REQUEST??????????????????????
For my troubleshoot (GFI LNSS 9 Scanner)?????????????????????????????????
----------------------------
I try to find the solution for the troubleshoot of the GFI LNSS 9 on XP PRO SP3:

. Could not connect to remote registry.

. Could not connect to remote SMB server.

&

. scheduled operations disabled due to stopped attendant service.

Finally my scanner seems to "not showing ANY errors" BUT its not working AT ALL!!!!!

PLEASE, tell me what should I do to get a HELPFULL answer after 5 weeks of "just a request" on "waiting list"???

PLEASE, just let me know IF anybody cares???

THANKS A LOT!!

Does it generate an event ID in microsoft under event viewer?
Also is it the administrator account or another account? If it is a differant account did you try doing a "run as" administrator or a domain administrator/enterprise admin.
After all of this I would look at downgrading back to LNSS 8 try that out and see if you still get this error, since LNSS 9 is still in beta and not 100%.

I am just trying to help CAPS IS NOT NEEDED. :\ Also does GFI generate an event ID when you try to open/run or whatever you are doing. Also have you tried restarting the services? Restarting a server does not always work to restart certain services.

Hi Reinc,

thanks a lot for your very kind answer!!!

Apologize for the "way" I wrote!!!

But its now more then 8 weeks I try to get a useful answer or support!!!

Anyway!!

I don't get any event ID when I try to run GFI.....!!!

And the idea of the TROUBLESHOOTER is useless since NO ONE gives a damn to support a GFI customer, too bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANKS A LOT @Reinc

thunder999,

Have you tried to turn OFF Simple File Sharing on the target computer?

To turn Simple File Sharing on or off in Windows XP Professional, follow these steps:
1. Double-click My Computer on the desktop.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab, and then select the Use Simple File Sharing (Recommended) check box to turn on Simple File Sharing. (Clear this check box to turn off this feature.)

I was thinking if LNSS 8 works then it is a problem with 9 and that way you can still use the GFI product. Another idea i had was if you are able to get it open again can you do a scan other than a full scan? I can also recreate your problem with the SMB and remote registry etc. I switched the credentials option from "Null Session" to "currently log on user" or "Alternate credentials" then it went away.

@Reinc

THANKS for your reply!!!!

can you do a scan other than a full scan?

Infact it's possible to scan ONLY with the "Alternative credentials" option!!!

I have to type the user & password to scan!!!!

But this is the ONE & ONLY option to scan without any troubles, how comes???

Would you please tell me how to fix the scanner to be able to scan with the other scan options???????????????????

"Currently logged on user", "A null sesion" & "A private key file" option.

THANKS A LOT DEAR @REINC

You should work with the "PRO" GFI technical team, as their GROUP BOSS!!!

THANKS AGAIN!!

@Reinc I hope you got also a solution for the scan options trouble!!!

By the way @Reinc, do you know the
Acunetix Web Vulnerability Scanner 6
????

I think it a better alternativ for GFI LNSS 9!!!

What do you think???

Check the following Registry Key.  It is used to set permissions for registry access.

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurePipeServers\winreg

Set permissions as appropriate.  Pay close attention to any User/Groups that have "Deny" set.

Have you done this?    If not give it a try

1.     Start the Registry Editor, and go to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurePipeServers
2.     In the right pane, right-click the winreg key, and then click Permissions.
3.     Verify that LOCAL SERVICE is listed and has Read permission.
If LOCAL SERVICE is missing, you will need to add it and grant it Read permission.

THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOUR REPLY!!!

I did the change in REGEDIT with no results.

I have no idea why no one of the GFI technical support even try to answer my question???

"GFI is like WHO CARES about our bugs or our forum"!

TOO BAD, GFI!!!

Anyway I got THE alternativ to GFI  so, now I can proudly tell you, GFI:

Who cares or needs  GFI????

But let me also thank you for the 14 weeks of request without even answering the question???

It seems like here on GFI board the ONLY replies you get are exclusively normal @users who try to help eachother......ONLY for this reason I have to thank ALL @users who replied to my thread...!!!!

A VERY BIG THANKS GOES TO ALL @USERS on GFI board but strictly to the normal @users NOT the GFI team

THANKS ALL @users, you are the REAL Pro Heros of this forum!!!!
