I have a new installation of MA6 on a newly installed Exchange 2k3 server. Followed the instructions in the "Installing Outlook Connector on AD" PDF, and when i get to "Test Access to Mailboxes" I also get the "Failed to Connect to Microsoft Exchange Server" error. I have triple checked that the new sync account has full access to the mailboxes, as well as being able to log into the exchange server. Note that the administrator account (domain\administrator also has full access to the mailboxes, and I also get the same error as above).

Thanks

Jason

I ran into the "failed to connect..." error as well. The fix in my case was to change the Exchange (2007) server name to the FQDN used in our SSL certificate. Of course, now we get the "no mailboxes found..." problem. Sigh.

To solve the No Mail Servers to Synchronize do the following:

- Stop GFI MailArchiver Core Service
- Open \GFI\MailArchiver\Core\Data\product.config

- Add the following key:

<add key="UMPollingSkipExchangeCheck" value="true" />

- Start GFI MailArchiver Core Service
- Perform a User Mailbox Synchronization Test to ensure that Mailboxes are retrieved this time.

After much frustration I re-read the help file and found:

2. The same user must be granted executable rights on the machine on which GFI MailArchiver is installed. This is required because the user mailbox synchronization agent accessing the mailboxes, runs on the same machine on which GFI MailArchiver is installed.

I made the user I created earlier an admin on the Mail Archiver box and now everything is working.

this one worked on me. thanks dude, i missed too

Benjamin in Support just helped me with this same issue on Windows 2008 with Exchange 2007.  It appears that IPv6 and MAPI calls struggle sometimes.  Following the following instructions to disable IPv6 worked for me:

To do this please follow these instructions:
- Under the regkey HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters, add a 32 bit DWORD with the name DisabledComponents and value 0xFF (Decimal 255).
- Reboot the machine and test out MailArchiver synchronization.

Hallo,

I have the same problem, when trying to enable "email synchronization", MailArchiver 6 is on remote Domain Controller with win2003 server, mailserver is on windows2000 and its exchange 2000. Journaling, and archiving working properly, but I can not enable synchronization, stil get this error: "Failed to Connect to Microsoft Exchange Server".

I created new user, which has full access to Exchange server Private store and also this user can locally login to domain controller  (I put him in Domain Admins group - just for test). I tried it also under this user loged in, but still not work. Both servers were restarted several times.

Can you pls help me?

thanks a lot
