I know that spammers have been formatting emails in a certain way that the text that appears as text is actually some other type of garbage. So when you put in a phrase or keyword condition that you read in the body of the email, the actual text content is different hence why keyword checking no longer nabs it. I don't know if I explained it correctly. Here's an example. I had a piece of spam come into my mailbox that said something like "V ia gr a is great" or whatever. So I copied the "V ia gr a" and when I pasted it into the keyword checker it showed as "V qzn ia fc gr " There are a zillion different ways spammers are using to get the Viagra word across so trying to stop it is going to be an endless job especially if you’re matching the whole word. Having the spaces and matching the whole word ME is going to look at each entry as a separate word. If you're using Keywords in a deleting action as I am, try focusing in on a more consistent word phrase that they are using in the subject line but not to general where there may be the possibility that legitimate e-mail will be captured. quote:
It seems they're using some type of coding to show the message, but trick keyword filters... My keyword checker is still blocking the same number if not moreso as it was with the 0326 build I just upgraded from. Seems stable to me. Hope so. quote:
As for GFI not giving you support just because you bought it once makes absolutely no sense to me... you pay for yearly support for a reason. If I told Microsoft "I bought windows 95 so you owe me support on it forever" they'd laugh. It's not how things work. Out of all the software/hardware maintenance agreements out there, GFI is pretty damn inexpensive. I agree and that's why a pay for the SLA. Now for this recent issue that I have experienced, I did call and start a case on this with support and provided support information that was requested by the support engineer that I spoke with. The response I received afterwards was basically a let down. I received an e-mail stating that my DNS blacklist was capturing the problem e-mails so use that instead of keywords. That was it! Nothing else! Other than John Letourneau kindly stepping in and asking questions; no other communication was made to me. I finally discovered on my own what was going on and took some corrective action. I know how providing support is because I do it every day and I know they are busy. But I’m a paying customer so that gives me the right to B!#*h! There was clearly an issue with ME (the program) and if I were to rate support on my case, I give them a 2 out of 10 on this one! John, I applaud you for all of your efforts. Thanks, Dave
