John / Anyone at Gfi,

Before I call Gfi tech support is there any further thoughts on this on the basis that this is happening with 2 of your customers and perhaps more now?

Neil,

Where we currently stand with this is that the development team has passed the information down to us that this is to be expected and that there is nothing we can physically do at the time to change this action.  What I can do for you, or you can do for yourself at http://forums.gfi.com/GFI_MailEssentials_%26_Feature_Requests/m_900760762/tm.htm, is submit a feature request for better detection in the HTML disclaimer module.

Hi John,

I would appreciate if you could submit this feature request on the basis that it may have more impact.

On this subject, do you think it's wise to simply create a single image of the signature text instead of using HTML. I mean, create a JPEG file, a snapshot if you like of the text into an image file and then just attach a single line of code to insert the image. This way the disclaimer is really just an image and perhaps would be picked up. I see Microsoft do this here in the UK.

Neil

Is there anyone else out there that uses HTML disclaimers that don't duplicate in emails?

We're desperate to find a solution to this problem.

Sorry, broken since 20071005 on more than one installation

Creating a jpeg might cause Outlook to consider it illegitimate

A thought that I've not tried, just use plain text in the disclaimer instead of html?

I've been getting the same thing that's described in this thread. We just implemented our disclaimers a couple of days ago, and we're getting multiple disclaimers on long threads.

On question...

Does this actually work? How does one get a plain text disclaimer inserted into an HTML message? If I go into the disclaimer setup and leave the HTML section blank, e-mails go out without a disclaimer rather than defaulting to the text only section. If I recreate the disclaimer without any fancy html code, it's still duplicating.

Any thoughts?

Disclaimer: This may screw up your system, so take the appropriate backups before changing anything.

Try removing all HTML in the disclaimer table in the config.mdb. It probably won't work, because the disclaimer is within the html body, but it's worth a try.

PS: this is still broken in v14.

Plea: GFI, please make it work again.

Some interesting text in debug logs, but perhaps it doesn't mean what it suggests:
