I have a client who is about to start using GFI to archive off their mail system and save space on their exchange server.
Though the process appears to be simple, we have done some test runs so we are certain we wont break or loose anything when we do the actual migration and we noticed a small problem.

Amongst this organisation, many of its users have sent emails between themselves. As a result of this, when we import two seperate mailboxes (pst's), chances are there is an identical email in two users' mailboxes.
.e.g
User1 sends an email to User2
The email is stored in User1's Sent Items, and is also stored in User2's inbox.
Now, when we import the two seperate PST's for each user, the single email is entered into the GFI database twice. And because of this, when either User1 or User2 searches GFI for that email, it appears twice in the GFI database.
As i understand, this isn't a problem once we have actually migrated to the server completely since a single email will only pass through the organisations journal once (rather then twice which is what happens when importing to two seperate PST's)

Does anyone know of a way that i can search the GFI database and remove duplicate entries?

seamusr,

This is not going to be a supported action from GFI.  I have seen some SQL scripts around that will allow you to remove messages but be careful when doing this.
