tupurz -> MailArchiver failing to authenticate (19.Jun.2008 7:34:45 AM)

Hi,

Brand new install and I am not very familiar with the software.  SBS 2000 server running ASP.net 2.0.latest.  Client was running archiver 4 without issue prior to server crash.  We have since rebuilt server.  I tried installing  mailarchiver4 Monday night and was getting messages about Could not Connect; issue due to core services not running.  They were running.  I stopped and restarted them.

Wednesday, pulled software off and re-installed.  Now getting failed to autheticate error.  Contacted gfi tech support and spent 1 hour on the phone trying to resolve.  Installing ver 5 results in same error:
System.Security.SecurityException: Access is denied. Server stack trace: at System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetTokenInformation(SafeTokenHandle tokenHandle, TokenInformationClass tokenInformationClass, UInt32& dwLength) at System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.get_User() at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Tcp.TcpClientTransportSink.SendRequestWithRetry(IMessage msg, ITransportHeaders requestHeaders, Stream requestStream) at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.Tcp.TcpClientTransportSink.ProcessMessage(IMessage msg, ITransportHeaders requestHeaders, Stream requestStream, ITransportHeaders& responseHeaders, Stream& responseStream) at System.Runtime.Remoting.Channels.BinaryClientFormatterSink.SyncProcessMessage(IMessage msg) Exception rethrown at [0]: at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.HandleReturnMessage(IMessage reqMsg, IMessage retMsg) at System.Runtime.Remoting.Proxies.RealProxy.PrivateInvoke(MessageData& msgData, Int32 type) at MArc.Ada.Security.AdaAuthentication.Authenticate() at MArc.Web.SecurityTest.AuthenticateUser(HttpContext context, WindowsIdentity wi) at MArc.Web.SecurityTest.ProcessTest(HttpContext context) The Zone of the assembly that failed was: MyComputer

Registering aspnet with iis works fine.

Tried doing research on web for the final error;  seems to be something with trust.  Capsol, .net security tool, seems to suggest that changing our URL to fulltrust would resolve issue, but I have had zero luck here.

Client has been without old email for 2 weeks and is starting to getting more than a little miffed.

Has anyone else seen an error like this in the past?

Mail essentials is onboard and working fine...Kaspersky is file server anti-virus.

Thanks,
Shawn

Running in Debug mode was suggested by tech support and did not resolve.  fyi

Shawn,

I believe we may have talked over the phone on Friday but here is the fix just incase anyone else (or I am mistaken on speaking with you) has this problem:

1.  Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Domain Controller Security Policy.
2.  Click Security Settings.
3.  Click Local Policies, and then click User Rights Assignment.
4.  In the right pane, double-click Impersonate a client after authentication.
5.  In the Security Policy Setting window, click Define these policy settings.
6.  Click Add, and then click Browse.
7.  In the Select Users or Groups window, select the IWAM account name, click Add, and then click OK.

<domainname>\iwam_<machinename>

8.  Click OK, and then click OK again.
9.  To enforce an update of computer policy, type the following command:

secedit /refreshpolicy machine_policy /enforce

10.  At a command prompt, type iisreset.
