JasonM -> Timeout issues when downloading some updates (16.Jun.2008 8:08:36 AM)

Hi,

I have just purchased and installed NSS 8 onto a Windows 2003 server.

After scanning the network I found that many of our servers were missing patches and switched to the patching process.

The software can connect to the Internet, download some patches but not all replying with the problem "download failed" - no better explanation sorry nor any log I could find.

NSS version: 20080326
Software running using a domain admin account
Account has been logged onto the system and IE set up correctly.
No proxy in use
IDS filters told to ignore the server in question.
Widows 2003 & IE7 - all fully patched

I can download some patches and deploy them, but others (like MDAC_2.8 SP1) starts to download, says 0% out of X and then fails.  If from logged into the server I open the web location provided by NSS eventually Microsoft hands me the files - It seems to be a time out problem ?

Is there a way to manually download these files then tell / update GFI that it's there ?

Is there a way to extend the timeout period to give MS longer to server the files ?

Many thanks.

Jason

Jason,

Although there are many details to this issue, many of our customers find that this resolution from Microsoft helps resolve the trouble: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B181050&x=15&y=11

It seems to be related only to Internet Explorer 7.
