MMac -> Windows Server 2008 workaround? (9.May2008 10:10:25 AM)

Hi there, I desperately want to get my mailboxes moved into an exchange 2007 & windows 2008 environment.  Is there any workaround that will allow GFI to scan my incoming mail?

What I was thinking was to leave my 2003 front-end box up with ME installed and have an MX record only pointing to the 2003 box (it will relay the messages to the 2007 servers that are running windows server 2008)

Does this sound like a valid workaround for the issue until GFI is ready for 2k8?

Or perhaps people have other better ideas?

Cheers,

MMac,

There is not an official workaround that can be provided by GFI for this.  It is possible that someone within the community may be able to help you.

Yes it does. In the end, you can install ME on the exchange Server directly (disregarding the issue of what mailserver and what OS it is), or on a relay machine. If you install it on a relay, the emails are scanned and then forwarded via the IIS remote domains. There is actually no need for it to an exchange box. A normal 2003 IIS Server will do. But if you wanted to have Exchange on that relay machine running, you would probably need to specify your 2007/2008 machine as the smarthost. Or you can do it using a connector.

Either way, ME will not care what mailserver of OS it relaying to once Emails have been scanned. So your idea should work.

MMac,

Using a IIS relay server is a good option until GFI MailEssentials runs on Windows Server 2008.  This will work fine.
