2 days ago my logging stopped. I now see Syslog server not running SNMP server is not running I have rebooted many times and it just wont start. Any ideas? Ihave version 8

R U using an evaluation lic by any chance & the lic has expired? Did U change any passwords or the account that you used to run ESM v8 got intruder logout? R U using Windows XP?

We are running XP but nothing was changed. I finally uninstalled everything and reinstalled it. chose a diff database though on install. It seems to be working again but i sure hope this does not happen again. I have the old DBs but mounting them is no fun.

I have the same issue with our installation here. After a reboot, the service simply does not start anymore. No errors other then the general time-out on the service itself. I have gone as far as removing the entire installation (after saving the config :)) and redoing it; no luck. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I Don't know if this will help, but I have just installed (from download) EventManager 8 In the crmiini.xml file the <RegistryKey></RegistryKey> was set to <RegistryKey>Software\GFI\ESM7</RegistryKey> Note this is version 8 I downloaded, so I changed the line to <RegistryKey>Software\GFI\ESM8</RegistryKey> And tried to start the service - NO more timeout and everything works. GFI need to check their release quality control I guess.

thnx for the suggestion, found the same ESM7 reference, although it is from a ESM8 install. Tried it out but no luck :(
