jklemm22 -> Trouble scanning a server (29.Apr.2008 8:09:52 AM)

Hello.
We had an important server fail a few months back, so we renamed one of our nonessential servers to have it replace that server. We recently noticed that LANGuard doesn't seem to be scanning that server properly.
Just now, I tried scanning using the new server name and that failed. Then i tried scanning using the old server name, and that also failed. Finally I tried scanning using the IP address, and that seems to have worked, but the results are a bit confusing:

Windows
Missing Service Packs : 0
Missing Patches : 0
Installed Patches : 73
MDAC
Missing Service Packs : 0
Missing Patches : 0
Installed Patches : 1

As i said, the scan has been failing for a couple of months, so I can't imagine how this server could be up to date. Is this a mistake?
I did notice one error in the log, but google didn't turn up any help on this message:

quote:

Collecting Windows OS information (WMI)...
     Enumerate USB devices...
The WMI did not respond in the permitted time interval.
Error connecting WMI server: The WMI did not respond in the permitted time interval.

Can anyone help me with this?

Jeremy,

Can you please try the following check:

a) Login to the Languard Network Security Scanner Server using the credentials you are attempting to perform the scan with
b) Start > Run > "mmc"
c) File > Add / Remove Snap-in > Click Add
d) Select WMI Control
e) Another Computer > Enter the IP Address of the remote server > Select Finish
f) Close the Add / Remove Snap-in Dialogue Box
g) Expand WMI Control > Right Click on the WMI Control Node > Properties

Does this connect to WMI on the remote Server?

Nope, that didn't work:
