Adam_231 -> Restoring Archived Mail (29.Apr.2008 6:55:01 AM)

Hi,

I am trying to restore mail from MailArchiver. When doing this the system reports back that the email has been restored to the users inbox, however it doesnt appear.

I have checked ESM Message Tracking and there is no log of the mail being sent/recieved etc. We also use MailEssentials, when restoring the mail I have watched the Mail Monitor and again, there seems to be no record of the mail being processed.

I have also checked that downloading the email works. So I am assuming there is something going on in the emailing process.

Are there any logs I can check in Archiver or Essentials to try and find out whats going on?

Any help is appreciated!

Adam

Adam_231,

This is normally caused by the SMTP setting in GFI MailArchiver not being correct.  If you browse to ..\Program Files\GFI\MailArchiver\Core\SMTP\Retry do you see the messages here?  I would recommend checking the SMTP Server settings in GFI MailArchiver.  To do this open the GFI MailArchiver Interface and go to General Settings.  On this page you should see SMTP Server.  Make sure this is a valid SMTP Server.  If this is set to "localhost" change this to use the IP of the machine (if this server is a valid SMTP server) and try to restore the message.

You were totally correct!

Many thanks
