MuadDib -> Forms Based Authentication (24.Apr.2008 8:12:15 PM)

Hello.

I have successfully converted Mail Archiver to use form based authentication via just a couple changes in web.config and IIS of course.

I was wondering if the same could be done with Mail Security?

Needless to say I've tried changing web.config from "Windows" to "Forms" and changing to anonymous within IIS with no luck.

Any suggestions? Anyone else use Forms based Auth with Mail Security?

It would just make administration that much easier when out of the office.

Thanks for your time.

MuadDib,

Are you attempting to access the GFI MailSecurity interface remotely?  If so you can do so without forms based authentication.  All you would need to do is make sure IIS is published with access to the internet and access the URL with /MailSecurity added to the end.  This should pop up and ask for your username and password.  In this box please authenticate with domain/username and the password.  This will allow you to log in remotely to GFI MailSecurity.

I already can access it remotely using IIS Integrated Windows Auth... but that wasnt the point of my original post. I simply asked if it could convert to Forms based similar to MailArchiver. I prefer forms based auth, and dont like the way windows auth always has to have the domain before the username etc.

Sounds like it cant be done?

MuadDib,

While there may be a workaround to get this to work I have never seen forms based authentication with GFI MailSecurity.  I have submitted a Feature Request regarding this functionality.  Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee that your feature request will be added to a future version of the product, but it will be reviewed during the design process and possibly implemented.  Thank you.

Thank you very much for this consideration.
