Scotto -> Mouse & iPod connectivity issues (23.Apr.2008 12:03:18 AM)

We have recently installed GFI EP Security v4, no problems with the client agent rollout.
After around a week we started getting reports from users saying that their mouse would not work, and also that they were getting the dreaded 'blue screen of death' when plugging in an iPod (these devices always worked correctly before the GFI installation).
After some experimentation I have found that a mouse will work correctly if plugged in before the computer is switched on, but not if unplugged and then plugged back in while the computer is on. In the device properties it says "This device cannot start (code 10)". I have also noticed that the mouse becomes enabled if a shutdown is performed - when the screen displays "closing network connections".
I have set up a couple of different mouse types and an iPod as 'specific devices' by using the hardware id, and then added these to the protection policy as having full read/write access to the Domain Users group, and then updated the policy on all workstations. This had no positive effect on getting these devices to work, even after restarting workstations.
I am not sure if this can be related to antivirus (we are using McAffee v8.0i - all definitions are up to date).
Could someone please shed some light on this issue.
Thankyou.
