JeremyW -> GFI PST-Exchange Email Export error when trying to export pst (17.Apr.2008 7:31:34 PM)

I have downloaded the trial version of GFI Mail Archiver and am in the process of testing all the functionality of it.

I'm trying to run the eewiz and I when I get to the Select Owner page of the wizard, if I click the owner button I get an error saying

The program cannot open the required dialog box because no location can be found. Close this message and try again.

I try again and get the same.

I have also tried to type in an email address manually and when I click next I get

Runtime Error!
Program: <path to eewiz.exe>
abnormal program termination

I've tried this on two different computers.

Any help on this would be appreciated. (hoping to install this at a client's once I work through the whole process)

Hello JeremyW,

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly.
Could you indicate where you find the 'Select Owner' page of the GFI-PST Email Export Wizard: http://support.gfi.com/manuals/en/mar5/mar5manual.1.52.html?

Kind regards,

Hi Jan,

It's the page of the wizard right after you select the Cut off time. If you click on the link you posted and search for Select the owner of the emails it will take you right to it.

Thanks.

Hello JeremyW,

Are there any Active Directory issues on your network?
Is the system you are running the GFI-PST Email Export Wizard on part of the domain?
It looks like it can't make a connection to Active Directory.

Kind regards,

Thanks Jan, that was the issue.

I was using my laptop and joined it to the test domain but I forgot to change the DNS server to point to the DC. All resolution was being done by NetBIOS. So when it tried to find the SRV records for the domain so it could query AD I got the error. I changed the DNS server to point to the DC and that solved the issue.

I'm whacking my head on this one. =)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
