Is the installation of this version the same regardless of whether or not you had previously installed the patch?

I had ME 12 with the then latest build, 20080326 (I think?) and the first backscatter patch, then I downloaded the new build 20080508 and basically just upgraded ME. Does that answer your question?

Hi again, Thank you for your comments on the new build. Shield, The NewSenders module works hand in hand with the Auto-whitelist and the other Anti-spam modules. When an email is scanned, it is processed by the Autowhitelist. if the sender is not found on the autowhitelist, the email is coming from an email address which was never contacted before (and which can therefore be a spammer). The email is processed by the rest of the anti-spam modules. If none of these block the message, and the email was not on the autowhitelist, the emial will be deemed to be coming from a new sender, which may or may not be a spammer. Most clients decide to tag such messages to show that the email may be a spam email. To answer your other queries ... 1. The logic which is followed when checking an email for spam is: a) Is the email a DSN (NDR)? b) If it is, is ASE_SCANDSN enabled? c) if it is, pass the NDR through Whitelist / Spam modules. This may involve scanning the embedded emial if this is availlable. d) Finally, pass the emial through NewSenders, which is meant to be the last module to scan an email. If the message was not blocked by the Anti-Spam modules, the NewSenders will check the recipient of the email attached to the NDR if available, or the email domain of the sender of the NDR when the original email is not attached. 2. MailEssentials will make use of the default value when the registry values are not created. The default value is shown in the kb article. NewSenders does NOT need to be enabled in the MailEssentials configuraiton for the NDR Spam blocking functionlity implemented in the NewSenders module to work. The new functionality can be disabled only by using the registry values mentioned. pmcneil, Yes, you would need to upgrade to the latest build in order to be updated with the latest update which targets NDR Spam. Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi guys I have an Outlook Express (OE) user in other country, the messages sent by OE are going to my spam folder since I guess, I removed my domain from White List according to GFI procedures to avoid NDR. What can I do? I will appreciate your prompt response. Arturo

Hi Arturo, Does the user have a static IP address? If that is the case, add his IP address to the IP whitelist. You should only add the email address to the whitelist as a last resort.

Hi Nicks Thank for your response. However in this case this user has a portable computer to connect it in any places of Manaos, therefore the IP is dynamically obtained. In the other case I have a question, if I add the e-mail address in the WL, the NDR spam would be actived for that address? Arturo
