Feature Request: We use a custom whitelist, but not the auto-whitelist. Current Problem: User is out of office for 1 week, sets Out of Office. 1 Legit email comes in (sender is on our custom whitelist) 1 Spam email comes in (somehow gets through all filters) 1 Email comes in, not spam, not on whitelist (no-reply email due to notification, newsletter, etc) Outlook generates Out of Office replies for all messages (including spam). The following would be great: Get GFI Mail Essentials to grab Out of Office replies and compare them to our Custom Whitelist The result would be: Out of Office reply for Legit email is sent off Out of Office reply for Spam email is deleted Out of Office reply for Newsletters (no-reply email) is deleted Bascially, if your not on our Custom Whitelist (important people) you do not need to be notified that someone is Out of Office.

The current version (ME 14) is very much improved and seems to handle a lot of the requests I have seen here (other than the Dashboard not working and SpamRazer not updating, which I have not been able to solve). One thing I cannot find, if it exists, is a command-line interface to MEReport.exe. I would like to schedule a daily report to be created automatically and saved in a particular folder. Thanks for the great product and the forum to express concerns!

Here's a feature request for GFI: 1. Auto-whitelist pruning. It would be nice to be able to configure a setting that would automatically prune addresses from the auto-whitelist, either by age or by the amount of time that's passed since anything has been sent to or received from that address. For instance, an entry that was auto-added 2 years ago and hasn't been sent to or received from since, can be pruned. It would make managing the list far easier.

ME should be tracking the email addreses first time seen, most recent time seen, and total times seen. Then different users could use different algorithms for deleting stale values.

Can we please get a circular logging option? My logs are fragmented to hell and I'm resorting to a lot of hackery to purge and defrag them on a regular basis. For example, my directory harvesting log (the module is running at the smtp level) is 500MB with 1,005,480 fragments on the boot volume with 86% free space. It takes forever to access/search it, and it only has two week's worth of data. If we could set a fixed sized log it would hopefully alloc the file in one block; if not we can defrag it once and be done.

I'll second that as well. Obviously GFI ME already has the functionality as many of the debug logs are all pegged at 5121Kb in size.

aye! I'd also like to request that there be an ability to filter certain type of email features...yes, some will break the SMTP RFCs...but a lot of spammers are using read receipts now. I had to implement a sink to scan each email before it gets processed by anything else to remove externally requested read receipts. It's working great, but would like GFI to implement a couple of settings to remove those type of things...incoming read receipts, incoming OOO, external OOO, etc... Just an idea to help customers have more options at their disposal...

Would it be possible to enhance the "Anti-Spam-rules"-report a little bit to include not only the catched spams but also the mails that were not checked because of whitelists ? This way one may also see if the whitelists are working good or not.

I would like to be able to filter based on the name of the sender. For example, one of the countless emails with receive has "Credit Card Inside" as the sender's name. These repeatedly slip past all the other filters.

It would be nice if the header checking included a search for header tags inserted by other programs like SpamAssasin. So if mails are already marked as spam, ME could filter them by those tags. By the way, can this thread be cleaned up a little bit? Best way would be, if the admin puts the requests in his own first post and then deletes the post of the forum user.

I apologize in advance if I repeat what others have asked for. Here's what I would like to see... * the ability to sort IP's in the SPF IP Exception list AND the IP Whitelist (the lack of sorting here is a major pain) * IP Whitelist allows you to input a group of computers/subnet. Why doesn't the IP Exception list in the SPF filter offer that same level of flexibility? * A notes/comment field in both of the above areas so that we can reference the client/domain name, etc. of the address(es) that appear in the whitelist We rely heavily here on the SPF filter, and it does catch tons of spam. The above features would be most appreciated! And big cheers to Catskinner...why can't ME automatically remove "user@domain.com" once "*@domain.com" has been added to any filter or whitelist?

One more thing pertaining to whitelisting groups of computers or subnets. In Catskinner's vein, make ME able to realize that if you enter a subnet to exclude (192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0), then a message should appear if there are individual hosts already excluded on that subnet. Give the user the option - do you want REALLY want to exclude the entire subnet, or just individual hosts? Make this available in both IP Whitelists and IP Exception Lists within the SPF filter.
