I would also like to add the following:

1. Integrate into the GUI all the small tricks that currently requires editing the registry: I'm refering to PDF and ZIP SPAM, but there could be other options I'm not aware of.

2.A better set of screens to manage blacklists and whitelist entries. Also add some "intelligence" behind it. For example, I would be delighted to have auto pruning of the list based on aging of entries and their activity : no mail from  a manual whitelist entry for more than 12 months -> delete entry! Another trick I would like to see is automatic deletion of individual entries if the domain is whitelisted: delete john@company.com and jane@company.com if *@company.com is whitelisted.

3. The report generator is slow. Can you do anything about increasing the speed?

Please exclude authenticated users from any spam checks. The first headache is SPF - if I set up SPF records for my domain then my external SMTP users are affected by SPF filters. Yes, I read here about how to set up an additional SMTP server at non-standart SMTP port and unbind it from GFI, but it looks so straight - just to exempt authenticated sessions.

1)  The ability to take advantage of the Master/Slave setup with the Anti-Spam Synchronization Agent.  For example, the design of the ASSA will merge the databases of all the servers together for replication.  This gives a cumulative effect of things that are added to one server get replicated to them all.  However the ASSA does not handle deletions of entries gracefully.  If I delete items on one server but not the 2nd (in a 2-system setup), the deleted items will repopulate the databases at the next replication time.  There should be a mechanism the ASSA where if something is added or deleted from the Master ME server, then it too is added or deleted from the slave servers as well.

I would like the ability to search the whitelist for a domain or address. This should be an easy feature to implement.

It would be useful if the whitelist modules recorded a log file. Recently I was trying to work out why emails were getting through the keywords filter. A whitelist log would have been of assistance to help track down the problem.

I'd like to second the comment from Catskinner about having an aging window for the Autowhitelist.  That ties to the comment from ITSupport@Zagat.com.  The ability to delete on the master and have deletions propagate would be very important.  At this point Whitelists pretty much require manual work on every system to maintain.

nice to see  this threat. My PITA atm is NDR-Spam. Is there a way to save  e.g. mail/subject of any outgoing mail and filter the NDR's which didn't match at SMTP-Level?

Hi David.

A feature I would like to see added is an alternative to dragging e-mails to the GFI Anti-Spam folders. Many of our users "miss" the intended folder and end up dropping spam to the legitimate folder.

One possible alternative is to have the user forward them to specified e-mail accounts such as spam@domain.com and notspam@domain.com.  I believe that would improve the hit-rate because it would be a more deliberate action on the part of the user.

Another alternative would be to integrate with Outlooks Junk-Email features so that when a user marks a message as junk or not it automatically moves to the appriate GFI folder.

One feature I'd like to request is the log files that each spam module keeps.  Our directory harvesting log is 1.7gb!  You can't really open a text file that big... (I know you can, but come on...).  I'd like the ability to have the modules log as they normally do, but create a new log file when the previous log file reaches 10 or 20mb.  Something manageable so you could look through it easily to see if something came right through.

Maybe have GFI installer create a new directory under ME for module logs, then a folder for each module, then the files can be stored and organized in there.

Maybe the autowhitelist database could be treated as a separate module so that it could be put before the domain/email whitelist module.  That would ensure any email we send to our contacts would easily be allowed to come back to us without having to jump through our filters/modules. 

That's a great idea (at least I think so)... We have a bunch of edu/org domains on our email/domain whitelist who are legit domains, but emails from those domains have their domain spoofed (xjdjadfi@something.edu), thus walking right into the mail system.  That's why I have my keyword checker listed higher priority than the email/domain whitelist.  If the autowhitelist is separate altogether, that'd essentially build everyone's whitelist automatically ensuring delivery from ONLY those addresses...that'd be applicable 99% of the time and making sure my users can expect to get their email from clients/contacts that they send to.

some features:

1. add action to any feature not for the group. some features are 100% spam but we cant delete it about other features. empty MIME = Delete but Remote Images = no Delete.

2. Razor and/or Pyzor check.

3. on keyword check ignore ".!?" so i can add love and he find it as love love! love. love? ...

The administration interface could do with a major overhaul - at times the tiny dialog panels make it feel like keyhole surgery.

The whitelist and blacklist in particular need a search facility (with wildcard) so we can see if an entry (or something similar) is already present.

Half of our users are using Norwegian Outlook, the other half English

The Out-of-office reply text string is different for these two groups ("Out of Office AutoReply:” and "Fraværende:”)

In order not to have 50% of our "Out of Office" recipients (either the Norwegian or the English part) being automatically added to the Auto-white list, we need a way to add both strings to the system (awx_outofoffice registry key or something similar)

We can't stop our users from using the Out of Office feature, and as it is now, our anti-spam system (MailEssentials) actually white lists the spammers that manages to get through the filters the first time, hitting a user with the Out of Office feature activated

As you may appreciate, this is URGENT

We have the same problem than Frelisb here, half of our users have french outlook and the other half has english outlook.

I have been told by GFI Support in November 2006 that my request has been added to the Features Request List. It's becoming really urgent now. I think that a patch to ME 12 could be easily made to give the possibility to have multiple strings to be searched to determine if the mail is an OOO reply.
