I sent an email to GFI support yesterday when I couldn't get through to the kbase or forums web servers. Below are the headers in the email I got back. Looking at it in UltraEdit, it's actually tabs that are added to the lines, not multipe spaces. It looks like they aren't just being added to email addresses (by whatever it is that's doing it, whether something in GFI, Exchange 2007 or Outlook 2007 in my case). This was found by looking at the "Message options" in Outlook 2007. FYI, I have an MDaemon front end server (www.mydomain), which then passes to EdgeServer.mydoman (where MailEssentials and MailSecurity run) and then finally to mail.mydomain. I have replaced the tabs with <TAB> to emphasize where they are, since HTML wouldn't show them properly. Hi, After analyzing some files for some customers, it was determined that the issue is not caused by MailEssentials since emails are totally untouched by MailEssentials before they reach MailEssentials and after they pass through. Hence the issue results elsewhere, probably in the sending mail server. Regards

Sandro The issue is related somehow to a GFI product. If we send and receive direct to the exchange server the isues go away. If I remove the installation of ME and MSEC from the gateway server and still relay the email to the exchange server the issue goes away as well. If you are looking at the logs maybe you wont find it there since it might be in the communication from gfi to the exchange server, you might see that ME sends the correct info but exchange is not interpreting it correctly. But like I have mentioned before, if we connect the exchange server direct to the internet then the issues go away so it has nothin to do with the sending or receiving server. If you need more logs or from MSEC instead of ME let me know. Raul

raulv I have the same experience Raulv, if I re-route email through an "old" backup exchange 2003 box using older builds of MSEC and MESS I do not experience this problem. Under W2K3 x64 latest MSEC and MESS I experience the problem. Since the email still travels through the same X64 box via hub transport / connector it has to be GFi as I have nothing else in the mail path.

Hi, Will send you a procedure to troubleshoot the issue on MailSecurity since the issue does not appear to be related to MailEssentials. Thanks

Sandro I setup a new gateway server with only ME in it and can confirm the issues are non existent. Therefore the problems are caused by MSEC. Can you provide a procedure to debug it so I can send the logs to you. Raulv

Hi Raulv, I've been sent some instructions by Sandro on setting up the debugging options in MSEC - I've switched them on but not had any response from the customer since I asked them to let me know when the problem happened... have you had any luck reproducing the issue as yet?
