Nicks -> Announcement: What happened to the Yahoo! SafeSearch (TM) Site Rating feature? (30.Aug.2007 3:29:11 AM)

Please note that the Site Rating functionality based on Yahoo! SafeSearch (TM), previously available in GFI WebMonitor 3, has been replaced by Web Filtering Policies based on the WebGrade Database, an improved site categorization database which is available in GFI WebMonitor 4, WebFilter Edition.

Meaning all WebMon 3 users have no choice but to upgrade to WebMon 4 or continue to use WebMon 3 w/ an outdated Yahoo! SafeSearch definition. Right? Of course, they can elect to use other products.
Pls confirm.

Hi,

We feel that the site rating system used in GFI WebMonitor 3 was limiting the functionality that could be provided by GFI WebMonitor. The update done to the WebFiltering feature in GFI WebMonitor was also instigated by GFi WebMonitor 3 clients who had requested such a change.

Are you encountering any issues with using the new functionality?

Not at the moment. The issue is we have a small number of WebMon 3 users who had purchased the software maint for their software but couldn't cough up the budget to upgrade to WebMon 4 Full version. They complained they are/were being left behind. Guess that's the facts of life. Tks for your support!
