Quick update:

I had 32 failure emails on Monday, 19 on Tuesday, 8 on Wednesday, 1 on Thursday and so far none today (fingers crossed). I didn't change anything on our servers during that time, so it looks like the problem might be fixed.

Thanks to whoever at GFI sorted it out!

They're back!

....The failed updates that is. I've been getting the "Failed to check for Phishing Updates" all morning. When I try to update manually I get an error: "An unknown error has occurred whilst attempting to download updates". WTH???

Anyone else having these issues?

Our last update for all virus scanning engines was on 3/13/07. Before they were failing at regular intervals, but we still recieved daily updates until the 13th.
Has it been this long for anyone else?
I've tried manually updating and switching urls but the updates still fail.  When accessing these urls manually I immediately recieve a prompt for a username and pw which tells me it's not a dns or timeout issue.
Any suggestions??

...I've got about 2-4 update failure notices daily for the last few weeks, but since yesterday evening I've got about 20 (I try every one hour to download)!!!!

GFI, I've paid for that service! So please ensure that I can download the updates!

Yep, they are back for me too....I previously had the issue where they were failing between around 12pm and 3pm EST, but now they have been failing for the past 12 hours....I have well over 100 failures in my Inbox this morning on both MailEssentials updates and MailSecurity updates.

Very frustrating....

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

We have identified a problem with some servers hosting the Anti-phishing updates. I confirm that this has been addressed, and you should not receive any errors from now onwards (if you do, kindly let us know).

Thank you.

I still can't get updates for my trojan and exe scanner or my email exploit engine.  They are dated 12/05/06.  I've tried to turn off auto updates and click on "download updates".  A dialog box pops up saying it will be downloaded and installed on a seperate thread.  Nothing else happens.  Is there supposed to be another box that pops up?  I get no indication of failure or success, only that the dates still say 12/05/06.  Today I get two emails telling me that my ContentSecurity automatic updates / maintenance contract will expire in 15 days.  Heck I haven't gotten any in over 3 months.  So I kinda feel stupid paying for another years time when it doesn't work.  How do I go to my boss and say, "I need to update or contract for GFI but it doesn't work anyways"

As a related question that someone here surely can answer:  I have no maintenance contract.  My software expires on 4/05.  I went to gfi and I can purchase my antivirus (Norman and bitdefender) online.  How do I update my trojan/exe scanner and email exploit engine?  Do these get updated by purchasing my antivirus updates?

Hi,

The Trojan and Exe Scanner and the Email Exploit engine do not get updated as often as the Anti-Virus scanning engines. Have the AV scanning engines updated in the meantime.

As shown in the thread, we are aware that you may have received failed update emails. However, currently all the updating mechanisms should be working as expected.

Kindly address any sales queries to your sales representative.

Thank you.

Thanks Nicks:

I am aware that troj/exe and email exploit engines don't get updated as often.  I do know that there are newer ones that 12/05/06 so I know that they are not working.  My anti-virus updates work most of the time.  They are current.  What is supposed to happen when I click on "download updates"?  Nothing happens other than the dialog box that says it downloads in a seperate thread.  Someone here please help answer how I purchase my troj/exe and email exploit license.  Antivirus is clear and purchased thru gfi.com.  I don't have a sales rep.  I've had better luck with my questions being answered by customers here than GFI.

Hi again jwellyman,

When  you click the "Download updates" button, the user interface will instruct the auto updater to update the files for the specific engine. However all this is done in the background. If the files are updated or if the auto updater encounters any errors, you will be notified by email.

The updates for the Trojan and Executable scanner and the Email Exploit engine are included with the Norman and BitDefender updates. You will not be able to purchase these seperatly.

Your sales representative would be your contact person who sold you the GFI products.

P.S. I work for GFI.
