I'm not sure what the issue is. It seems that over the summer it started and recently has reached approximately 35%+ spam reaching people's inboxes. There are 26,250 Ham emails and 25,751 spam. All filters are enabled, keyword checking, header checking, emails get moved to the public "this is spam" folder. I just don't know what the issue is and would appreciate any suggestions. Mailessentials 12. Thanks in advance.

Run the daily spam report for the last few days and see if you are catching messages in all of the filters.  We had a situation were are number of users went past our licensed users and we did not catch it.  After a number of days it will disables most of the rules.  If you are not In AD mode you can go in and delete the users to get some time to purchase license upgrades.  If that is not the problem, I would check whitelist entries.

I'm having a similar problem actually. At the end of september, all modules except the SPF and Phising stopped working. I actually hadn't noticed this until now since we also have Exchange IMF and client spam protection.

GFI still haven't returned to me with a solution in this matter though. In my case I've got licensing for 100 users, but we're only 63 persons, so that shouldn't be an issue. But I'm strongly suspecting licensing anyhow.

Is ME installed as an SMTP relay server or is it in AD mode or on the Exchange machine? If it's in AD mode, you need a license for every account. If in relay mode, you need a license for every e-mail address that sends out mail.

We're 50 people and needed a 100 user license in AD mode. I reverted to relay mode and we're fine now.

If in AD you have an account that will never send out mail (for example a local secretarial address or a resource address like a conference room) you would need a license for that but not in relay mode.

Relay mode = perimeter mode = forwarding mail to the mailserver
AD mode = Exchange server mode

Expand General, Licensing, Licensing Properties. Check if you have enough licenses available. If not, like rlittle sais, ME reverts to freeware mode, disabling all but a few anti-spam options.

In my case, it's like mentioned, 63 "used" licenses out of 100 which shouldn't be a problem. It's in AD-mode. If this IS the problem, then it's a bug in the software.

Is any spam filtered at all? If it is, which options are doing the filtering?

Again the request if it is possible to have logging of the whitelists.
When an e-mail is blocked, you'll have a log for it.
But if you receive spam in your inbox, you never know if it passed all tests, or if it was whitelisted ...
I can't imagine it is lots of work to implement that...
