This is a fresh install of the latest version of EventsManager on a Windows 2003 Server Standard, latest updates, running SQL 2000. The installation ran smoothly, the backend database configured, server restarted. Now, I am trying to add computers to the groups shown in the configuration interface. For example, I select the Servers group, right-click, Add new computer - the Add new computer... window opens, I enter the server name (the name of the local server) click Add, the server is added to the list below, click Finish, the window closes but there is no server listed under the "Servers" group. Tried this with different groups, different computers, tried by NetBIOS name, FQDN, IP address but I get the same - no machine is added in the group. What am I doing wrong?

Some additional details... The computer where EventsManager was installed is a domain controller running DNS and DHCP services. It has the MOM client installed (Microsoft Operations Manager) but the service is stopped. It used to have MS Exchange 2003 but again, all the services are disabled. Also, in EventsManager, when I try to configure the optional Administrator account, the settings are not saved and Component Configuration Quick Start interface is always showing this as "Not configured". There is nothing related to this in the event log as far as I can tell.

Hi Adrian, Please enable debug by editing the crmiini.xml file located in the home folder of the EventsManager installation as follows: Change the line <Debug>0</Debug> to <Debug>1</Debug>. Restart all EventsManager modules (UI, service). Reproduce the problem and please zip up the contents of the DebugLogs fodler and send them to forums@gfi.com or support@gfi.com and reference this thread in the email. Best regards, Calin

Hello Calin, I've actually found the problem. The account running the EventsManager service was not a domain admin (I've created a dedicated account during the setup but I forgot to add it the Domain Admins group). Once this was fixed and the service restarted I was able to add servers to groups. It's good to know how to enable debugging anyway. Regards
