Hello,

While I was monitoring my network through GFI webmonitor, I found out That the IP 127.0.0.1 was downloading a file with a .zip extension. I stopped it since it was sucking a huge amount of my bandwidth, then an I got an email saying that update failed or something.

Aprreciate ur help regarding this issue. what is the reason behind it ??? and how shall I deal with it if it happens next time...

Regards,

Hi Marwan,

Most probably the download was one of the virus definition file updates done by GFI WebMonitor. These tend to be around 7 Mb. If you feel that it is consuming a lot of bandwidth, and you may require the bandwidth at that point in time, you may stop the download. However we do not recommend that you stop the download often, otherwise, you would risk running on old virus definition files.
