Status: offline 		I received a patch from GFI Support. After installation the error message is not longer "Generic file error" but "Invalid fax size"

20060511 - The NetPrintQueue2Fax engine now has better built-in self-recovery from fatal errors.
20060511 - Removed unnecessary checks from MTA to be checked in fax server.
20060512 - Reduced memory consumption of NetPrintQueue2Fax engine.
20060512 - MTA and the TextAPI engine now handle fax numbers with "*#," characters better.

i recieved the same patch from GFI, but it helped for me with my generic file error on this one Faxsender. ... for now ... since i applied the patch i recieved 2 faxes from this sender without problems.

did you enabled the "disable batch processing" in the configuration!?

Anyway, write me an email too kaype at kaype dot net, i´m german too, maybe we can together find a solution for our problem.

i got the same issue like owunderlich, instead of "a generic file error occured" now i got "fax size invalid"

I allready send an email to the support and uploaded my troubleshooter files to the FTP.

Please Help!

can I receive this patch? We have this generic file error, we've sending many logs to gfi and nothing. I am using Eicon card and GFI told me it is probably eicon problem

- GFI send me another update for the logging function of faxmaker12
- i reproduced the "invalid fax size" error today
- i uploaded my troubleshooter files to the GFI ftp

thats it ... now its again GFIs turn ;)

i am really a little bit shocked to read this thread, because we have Faxmaker 12 with AVM C4 too and exactly the same problems with generic file error.

What shocks is, that it seems that the sender does not get an error-message, so he thinks the fax was received correct by our Server.

We get a lot of orders with longer delivery-time via Fax and so nobody notices for weeks, that we have no oder. after weeks we get a delivery-reminder from the customer and only at this point we notice that we have no order.

This is really inacceptable.

As i know the technicans of GFI read this threads too so here my question:

What can we do to find a fast solution???

Perhaps i missunderstood, but as i think, there is still no solution...

Status: offline 		yes you are right. we have about 10-12% of incoming faxes with this error. Still no solution. We are using Eicon and have open support call with eicon .... still nothing. Soon we will open official support call with GFI. We'll see :-))) (blind man spoke)

i have been in contact with the gfi support for long time now. the result of all these is:

- AVM Driver accpets the call and recieves the fax
- AVM Driver sends an "OK" to the sender
- AVM Driver hangs up and writes the incoming fax in an temporary .sff file
- this sff file is wheter empty or not correct, and so the faxmaker does not accept the .sff file from the AVM Driver

i also got an call from AVM about this issue, they told me that they want to trace the line to my customer, but my customer with wich i got this issue dont want this.

After all the emails, calls, tests, patches etc. i can say

- there is no fax machine in the world that can communicate 100% successfully with all other existing models of fax machines. even PC solutions...
- Probably the AVM Driver in combination with GFI may be the source of this issue, hopefully someone will find out why this issue happens...
- 0,2% of my faxes are "invalid fax size" and they are still every time on the same sender.

i´d like to get rid of this issue but at the moment i dont know how ... i think i had done everyting i could, maybe someone else knows another way to get an solutions for this problem ...

Well, i can accept a lot of errors and live with it, but if a sender gets an OK message and we never get this fax and nobody knows it, this is a thing i cant accept. We have alot of company-internal troubles and disputes because of this case.

I read about a patch, which can help. Is this a usefull thing an can i install it without risk?
would it help to install another ISDN-card? Are there any cards without problems?
