     Greetings all,

I've setup some scans to take place through a batch file and I was wondering if there was any way of using lnsscmd.exe to run results comparisons similar to scheduled scans.  I'm trying to get away from just using scheduled scans because of some of the issues I have with it.

Does anyone know of a way to do this or if there is any chance this could be built into future versions of the tool?

Thanks,

Chris

Since there hasn't been a response, I assume this is not currently possible.  Could it be added as a feature request?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Using the command line scanner, that would not be possible.

What are the issues that you have encountered using scheduled scans?

Thank you.

Hi Nicholas,

With Scheduled Scans, I have to make an educated guess as to when a scan is going to complete, from the command line, I can run the scanner in a loop so as soon as one scan is done, the next kicks off and I never have multiple scans trying to run.

When I want to run a scheduled scan out of it's normal schedule to get a comparison report, it changes the scheduled date to the time I run it so I have to change it back.

There is no progress window to show what is going on with a scheduled scan besides the monitor which simply tells you how many systems are complete and how many are to go.  This becomes an issue if the scan hangs up, I don't know which computer it hung on.  In my case, I've been experiencing at least one scheduled scan a week that gets hung.

Through batch files, I can create a scan more quickly with the limited options that I want to choose from then I can from the GUI.  I can also create this scan from anywhere in my network instead of having to log onto my scanning server.  It seems to me that you can do almost every other option from the command line scanner that you can do in the GUI, why wouldn't you want to add result comparison to the functionality?

Thanks,

Chris

This has been added to our requested features list.

You would be better off running a one-off scan in this case. If you run the scheduled scan, it will effectivly change the date of when the last scheduled scan was made.

In this case, you may want to contact us regarding this issue. We may need to do some troubleshooting to find out what is causing the scheduled scan to fail.
