Apparently they can't figure it out.  It happens at random.  Sometimes working fine for a week.  Sometimes failing twice in a day.  Stopping and restarting the services always fixes it.  Now all GFI has to do is automate the restarting of the service and it would be fixed??  Ha, I don't think so.  The waiting game continues...

New Gateway server, Windows 2003, dual Xeon etc.  Faxmaker is the only application running for now.  Only one analog Brooktrout card.

Well this issue has happened several times since my last report along w/ other issues but I have been asked to call Cantata (BrookTrout) to get a DSP Recovery Firmware patch - Just FYI in case that is needed to help fix your case - Will let you know how that goes once I get it installed -

I've been running with this patch for 2 weeks now.

Not a single failure so far!!!

I hope this doesn't jinx me.

Good luck,

Rich

I'm having the same issue, I've had the same issue for months, just it's happened twice within the past week and I want it resolved.

Multitech 5600ZTX, connected via serial.
receive only.

In my case I must power off the modem and power it back up, so perhaps it's modem related, but the symptoms are the same as the original poster.

Never worked w/ a modem like that - It took awhile to get GFI and Cantata on board to look more seriously at my/our issues - Good luck -

Well I have BrookTrout 1034 cards and I have been experiencing issues like these ever since upgrading to newest build and drives of GFI and Brooktrout cards - Not as often as you report though - Call GFI and setup to have a api debug file created and to set the callctrl.cfg file set to do verbose logging for (4) or so options in the callctrl.cfg file - Not sure if your settings are the same but mine were:

l3l4_trace
l4l3_trace
api_trace
host_module_trace

You can direct the api debug file to a place on your system - I suggest a drive w/ space - Will grow quickly depending on traffice but the fact that you have only (1) line it should not be that bad - These will create a ecc.log file and the file you choose to call in the Configuration Tool will help GFI determine cause but again this api logging that is created is set through a Brookttrout utility so you may not have this option if you have another card - Good luck -

There was a firmware update for the fax modem I use and I am hoping this will address the issue.

Well...after 9 Months the issue is still occurring.

My question: Is the new build supposed to fix this issue?

"New GFI FAXmaker for Exchange/SMTP 12 Build (20060904) released"
FIXED: Modem Drivers - some modems reporting as non-initialized state instead of waiting for call or idle.

Has anyone had this issue resolved by installing the new build? Thank you.

CGalloway,

Have you applied the latest build of FaxMaker?

Did the problem persist?

Thank You!
