Hello Bill,

I did receive that same message. I think it is due to the same error that this thread speaks about.

I am receiving the same message after upgrading to version 12. First I had the “license not recognized issue” and after an hour it was gone, but this just happened today once.

I am getting this error also.  I just upgraded to ver 12.  I really hope this fixes itself like the other folks' problem in this thread.

Recieve the same email every time the ME service/server is restarted. Only happened since I upgraded to ME12.

Has there been any issues potentially caused by this? Service stopping?

I upgraded ME from v11 to v12 and noticed two license-related errors that weren't there previously.

The first is under Anti-Spam/Phishing URI Realtime Block List, on the main tab.  In the Licensing section it says, "Failed to retrieve licensing status"

The second is under General/Licensing.  It says I am licensed for 250 users, but also says, "There was an error retrieving the number of users available on your system."

I just upgraded from v11 to v12. I am having the exact same issue!!

Also having the same issue.  After about an hour, it calculated a number of users and then it started working.

Make no mistake, during that hour, spam was not being filtered; there were no new entries in the Logs text files during that time period.  Test messages submitted to the SMTP queue were not marked or moved to the Exchange 2003 users' junk e-mail folder.

My configuration, if it helps GFI:

Windows 2003 SP1, Exchange 2003 SP2
GFI 12 (latest version) running in SMTP mode
Server is a gateway server: no user mailboxes installed.

I suspect something times out, because it can't find users on the system?  The domains listed in the General Properties are the e-mail domain of my company, and the internal Windows 2003 Domain.

This patch is only for build 20060127, correct?

My version is 20060308, and the autospamsvc.dll has a newer date than the one in this update.  Perhaps you were responding to someone else though. :)

Having the same problem running v 12, build 20060127.  I restarted services and this didn't help, nor did a restart.

Support says  to upgrade to build 20060318.  I am a bit reluctant to do this without more info on what else might be affected.

The changes in MailEssentials Build Version 20060305 can be reviewed at the following kbase article:
http://kbase.gfi.com/showarticle.asp?id=KBID002590

It is always recommended to upgrade to the latest build of any GFI Product, however if you still do not wish to upgrade, a patch has been released for this issue, which stops the Expiry Notifications being sent erroneously.

Please Note: This patch can only be installed on MailEssentials 12 Build: 20060127

ftp://ftp.gfisoftware.com/support/ME12_FIX_20060223.zip

Thank you

What good is that? The issue occurs in build 20060308 as well.

Just upgraded to v12 (20060308) and it won't let me correct the license key.

It is now set to "evaluation".

How do I get it to accept the correct key again ?

Regards,
Derek.

Wait about 45min-1hr. That seems to be the only solution.

The patch being referred to in this post provides a Fix for the Expiry Notifications being sent incorrectly.

If you are currently still experiencing this issue within the MailEssentials Build [20060308] please send us your troubleshooter files as indicated in the following link, with reference to this thread at forums@gfi.com

Thank you!
